Sheri R. Colberg, PhD, FACSM, is Professor, Human Movement Sciences at Old Dominion University. She is the author of numerous professional journal articles and was the senior author of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Diabetes Association joint position statement, Exercise and Type 2 Diabetes, published in the December 2010 issue of Diabetes Care. She has also written a number of consumer-focused books on diabetes and exercise, including The Diabetic Athlete (2000) and the Diabetic Athlete's Handbook (2008). She is a recognized leader in the field of exercise activity and diabetes. Dr. Colberg has type 1 diabetes.
