Overview

Someone is stealing blue objects from a park in Australia! Rumour suggests a monster is at work, but a young birdwatcher declares it to be a Satin Bowerbird! All are curious about what it’s up to, and soon a chase begins. Triumphantly calling “Weeoo, weeoo”, the rascally bird leads the group on a merry dance. Indignation rises and numbers swell as the bird continues to snatch objects from innocent folk. Running in hot pursuit along the edge of the park lake, the crowd finally runs the little chap to ground at the edge of a wood. There he is sitting peacefully next to his sweetheart, in a beautiful bower adorned with all his ‘stolen goods’! Surprised, but delighted, the throng of chasers gather around to hear his charming confession…

Author Information

Sally Rickett took a degree in ceramics and then trained and worked as a Montessori nursery school teacher. Together with her husband and two young children, she moved from England to northern Portugal in 2001 where she worked in the family-run language school. She has published two previous children's books, the second of which is about bowerbirds. All her books express Sally's love of children, nature and animals.
