Reviews

This essential reading for children shows how beautifully we differ while also teaching how to look for similarities and build relationships regardless of differences. It also points out that for children, the initial contact is about shared play; only after some time do they notice other characteristic traits of the people around them. From the youngest age, it's important to sensitise children through Fenek's stories, so that as they grow older, they don't transform the positive uniqueness of others into oddity. Dorota Wiatr - Psychologist, Career Advisor, Therapist The conclusion is simply perfect. A smile as an expression of gratitude, understanding, and admiration for the young person's attitude. More than one adult should read this book and draw conclusions. Down syndrome has distinctive features that set individuals apart from others. It's worthwhile to prepare children for the possibility of encountering these features in their environment, so they treat others with respect and don't feel uncomfortable or unsafe in their presence. Joanna Śniecińska - Parent of three children A seemingly simple topic, ""everyone is different,"" but the art lies in describing it in a way that is understandable for children and doesn't offend adults (parents) - a very positive surprise, well done! Marta Poplawska - Teacher, Mother of two children ""The Adventures of Fenek. Everyone is Different."" The book is very pleasant to read. I found myself smiling while reading it. It depicts typical physical traits of children with Down syndrome, as well as their lack of speech and very friendly approach to the world. I am a teacher at an inclusive preschool, and I am very pleased that such a book has appeared. I am especially happy that it shows frequent hugging because this behaviour is often misunderstood by peers, and not everyone likes it. Karolina Mutkowska - Teacher, Special Education Teacher, Mother ""But after all, everyone looks a bit different from others... Everyone is different! I don't understand what you're all on about."" The book addresses the important theme of diversity, which is difficult for children to grasp. Fenek tried to find it by observing all the children in the paddling pool, but looking for it in the appearance of the playing children, he didn't find it... The book leaves us with questions and encourages reflection on why this is so. Magdalena Myga - Psychologist, Special Education Teacher, TUS Trainer
