An important story that is absolutely captivating. This book is such an inspiration. The author takes a very dark subject and delivers it with the right mix of gravity and humor. It is a story of resilience in the face of absolute horrors within the family home. I applaud her courage for coming forward and recommend the book to everyone who is looking for a some inspiration to rise above our past experiences. Bobbi This is a great read. This author writes with a sincerity and an immediacy that speaks to the heart. Parts of her story are heartbreaking but are told in a way that doesn't make it a hard read. It's compelling.( I read from start to chapter 22 in one sitting). A truly gifted writer, able to share her perspective so completely that one can't help but comprehend her experience. Her voice is honest and generous. Her determination to partner with someone with whom she could share her whole life, her entire story, and settle for nothing less is her triumph over all her life's adversity. From the four year old who kept silent to ensure her mother's happy life, she grew herself into a giant of a woman. I highly recommend this book. A real triumph. A great read. Magdalena Brave and Heartwrenching This book is a very powerful read, dealing with a sensitive and difficult topic: childhood sexual abuse. The author, Christina Vitagliano, has managed as an adult to give herself back the voice that was taken away from her as a young girl, proving that you don't have to be a victim all of your life and you can rise above and find the strength to empower yourself. The book is at times very difficult to read, but also is filled with humor and sensitivity, and ultimately healing. I admire the bravery it took to write such a personal memoir, and I hope it helps other young women who may be feeling alone with similar secrets to know that they are not alone, and to reach out and talk to someone. Kudos for Christina's courage and resiliency -- I definitely recommend reading this book! SBC
