Overview

Cliff Green has been an Everton fan for 43 years. From 2004 until 2012, while overseas, he was a regular contributor to the now defunct fanzine 'Speke from the Harbour.' These 30 articles discuss every pressing issue of the modern day game from why England will never win anything to what happened to the obstruction rule? From racism to Rooney, from fair play to financial crises. And while this books gives a chronology of recent events in the goldfish bowl of the professional game, there's always the underlying theme of what it is to support a team that is so close and yet so far from Champions League football Success guaranteed by a foreign billionaire investor or heritage and self-respect preserved as the trophy cabinet gathers dust? A dilemma faced by many real fans and Cliff Green expresses this anguish better than most.
