Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDarren Diess is a professional fundraising expert and advisor, donor development coach, and benefit auctioneer. He is one of only 3% of auctioneers nationwide to earn the Benefit Auctioneer Specialist designation. Darren's knowledge and experience in the fundraising world have helped nonprofits double or even triple their revenue and continue to receive donations long after the fundraising event is over. Founder of Strategic Fundraising Solutions and an AFP Board member, Darren knows that volunteer, amateur, and celebrity auctioneers often leave money in the room. His focus is on high-impact auction fundraising for 501(c)(3) charitable organizations. When Darren isn't onstage or planning his next auction, he enjoys spending time in the San Diego sunshine with his lovely wife and three adult children. Michelle Gilmore speaks nonprofit. Starting her career in education she has come full circle with her Eventology classes, workshops and trainings. She graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, earned her California teaching credential from National University and a Masters of Arts in Education in Curriculum Development from San Diego State University. Following ten years of teaching, Michelle put her passion for volunteering and fundraising to work raising funds for arts and music programs for public schools. Teaching Art as a volunteer, hosting multiple fundraising events from galas to 10K races, carnivals to talent shows, Michelle merged her education-focused background with fundraising savvy to make a difference. From auction basket coordinator to Board President, Michelle has held positions on multiple boards, coached fellow nonprofits on maximizing revenue at their events, and eventually re-entered the workforce as a Development Officer for a local Schools Foundation. Through her work at the Foundation and her current role as Senior Development Director at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Michelle has raised millions of dollars for non-profit organizations and earned her CFRE certification in 2019. Michelle and her husband, Ted, have three boys and live in Coronado, California. She still volunteers for arts and education nonprofit organizations and sits on the board of a local non-profit that funds buses for public school field trips.
