Carl McKeating has made a lifetime habit of hopping from one 'stupid hearth side idea' to another: climbing Europe's high points has been his most recent and enduring obsession. A self-professed career-phobic, Carl has managed to eke out an existence in occupations as diverse as London bus driving, acting, turkey plucking, milk delivery, teaching and being a clinical trial participant. Managing to sit still for more than five minutes, he received a first class English degree from Lancaster University: his mother deemed this no mean feat for someone who had not learnt to read at all until the age of eight. His first loves are tea-drinking, climbing, writing, skiing, cycling and playing guitar and football very badly. He has travelled extensively throughout Europe, Asia and North America.Rachel Crolla boasts the dubious honour of being the first woman to climb the highest point in every country in Europe. She has also travelled extensively in Asia, Central and North America. With a background in local newspaper journalism, the opportunity to make a book about her mountaineering experiences was a dream come true. Having lived in Yorkshire most of her life, she began walking in the British countryside, completing challenges such as the Coast-to-Coast walk and Dales Way. She enjoys climbing, cycling and skiing in the Alps, where she has spent an eventful season working in a chalet.
