"Through teaching, photography and art, the author--Karen Grow Horan--aspires to bring attention in ""Eulogy to The Wisconsin Barn"" to the all-too-often anonymous architecture of barns that historically filled the Wisconsin landscape. Along with her personal stories, many of the photographs document original sites, barns, and farmsteads, some of which no longer exist. Other images demonstrate creative expression in which photos have been artistically altered. Horan gratefully acknowledges her University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students for research and scholarship in gathering family and barn history. Excerpts from seven student barn journals eulogize personal family histories in praise of these iconic structures.
