She studied International History at the London School of Economics, Ethnology at the University of Ljubljana and European Studies at the University of Bradford. For the spring semester of 2002, she was Mildred Miller Fort Visiting Scholar in European Studies at Columbus State University, Georgia. She has written a number of articles on popular culture in South Eastern Europe and is co-author of Slovenia and the Slovenes and co-editor of Language and Nationalism in Europe.
