Overview

Are Christians guaranteed eternal life? This question was probably debated by members of the first Church immediately after it was founded and continues to be debated right up until today. Christians on both sides of the issue quote numerous Bible verses to prove their position to be the correct one. So, how do we know which verses to accept? If we accept one set of verses doesn't that mean the other set is false and should be rejected? How can the Bible contain passages that contradict each other? Can both sets of verses be true? All these questions are answered within the pages of this book. My hope is that readers will maintain an open mind until the very end of the book. May the Spirit of Truth guide the reader into all truth.

Author Information

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Gil VanOrder, Jr. received a B.A. degree in psychology from Houghton College and began a masters program at Fuller Theological Seminary which was interrupted when he moved to Hawaii in 1990. While in Hawaii he directed a homeless shelter for Catholic Charities for seven years. He has over twenty years experience in full-time youth evangelism including work with Youth For Christ and Young Life. At various times he also served as a church youth director. Today, he lives just north of Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, Sandee. They have two children and five grandchildren. He and his wife are members of Sugarloaf United Methodist Church in Suwanee, Georgia. In addition to Eternally Secure, Gil has written several other books including Reformed Theology's Deformed Exegesis: The Book Calvinists Want Banned. In this work, in addition to the perseverance of the saints, Gil expands his focus to explain the problems with all five letters in the Calvinistic theology of the T.U.L.I.P. His favorite book is entitled Jesus or Mohammed: Love or Law which compares the founder of Christianity with the founder of Islam showing the profound differences between the two. In his book 8 Ways to Show Your Kids You Love Them, Gil shares lessons he learned as a father of both a son and a daughter. In yet another book, Gil tells of his personal experiences working with urban youth involved in a racist Muslim cult entitled Jesus Loves Allah. His most recent work is entitled, Blindfolded: Why We Can't See God. This book explains the various things that block our vision of the Almighty. His semi-autobiographical book, Why Do We Have to Deal With So Many Troubles?, offers advice on how to cope with life's many problems. Eric Liddell said in the movie Chariots of Fire that when he ran he felt God's pleasure. Gil says when he writes he feels God's pleasure. He's convinced this particular book was written with a great deal of leading by the Spirit of God. You may contact the author by emailing him at vogil@vanorders.net.
