Overview

Essential Environment (previously called Pollution Control Handbook) has been providing environmental professionals with annually updated information on pollution control and environmental protection legislation for over 30 years. This new edition, published in partnership with Environmental Protection UK, has been updated to reflect legislation in force, or expected, in mid-2012. It focuses on the UK and Devolved Administrations of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland but it also includes relevant EU legislation and international agreements. Topics covered include industrial pollution control, air quality management, climate change, transport pollution, environmental and neighbourhood noise, statutory nuisance, local environmental quality, waste management, land quality and contaminated land, water pollution, marine pollution, agricultural pollution, sustainable development and land use planning.

Loveday Murley has compiled and edited Essential Environment (formerly the Pollution Control Handbook) in print and, more recently, on the web as Essential Environment Online, for over 20 years on behalf of the charity Environmental Protection UK. She was also responsible for the editing and production of Environmental Protection UK's monthly Briefing and other policy and campaigning publications.
