Overview

The author has taught college-level media law and ethics since 1993. Finally he has edited and published a series of essays from authors ranging from John Milton to John Stuart Mill. These are the works that shaped current American thought about libel, intellectual property, and freedom of expression. In addition to the eight historical essays, Professor Brown includes nineteen edited federal court decisions that explain the American understanding of freedom of the press and freedom of expression. This is the same supplemental textbook that Brown uses in his Media Law and Ethics courses each Spring semester.
