Overview

Is your affective filter on high? Do you feel safe in your role as an ESOL teacher, or do you feel like you don't really know what you're doing? Do you feel confident in your position as an ESOL teacher, or do you feel overwhelmed? Do you feel motivated to teach your English Learners or do you feel like there are too many unanswered questions as to exactly what you are supposed to do? Do you feel like you need a magic wand to survive in your position? If so, you are not alone. The point of this book is to get conversations going (teacher workshops, book clubs, shares readings). I will present to you examples of students and of experiences from my career as an ESOL teacher to prompt the conversations. The goal is that through reading and critiquing my experiences you will forge your own magic wand from your conversations.
