In the context of transformations in the basic education market in Brazil, the objective of this research was to understand family expectations regarding bilingual schooling. More specifically, it sought to analyze the reasons and motivations that have led fathers and mothers to enroll their children in schools that offer bilingual education, including understanding the relationship between this choice and expectations regarding their careers.The results of the study pointed to different aspects valued by parents in opting for bilingual education, contributing to a better understanding of the dynamics of this new segment of the educational market, which is growing and attracting new investments. This knowledge can be useful for bilingual schools and projects, for private English courses and non-bilingual schools facing schools willing to deliver more complete and international training, not only teaching English but also in English.No contexto das transformacoes no mercado de educacao basica, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi compreender as expectativas familiares em relacao a escolarizacao bilingue. Mais especificamente, buscou-se analisar as razoes e motivacoes que tem levado pais e maes a matricularem seus filhos em escolas que oferecem educacao bilingue, incluindo o entendimento da relacao entre essa escolha e as expectativas em relacao as suas carreiras.Os resultados do estudo apontaram diferentes aspectos valorizados pelos pais na opcao pela educacao bilingue, contribuindo para um melhor entendimento da dinamica deste novo segmento do mercado educacional, que vem crescendo e atraindo novos investimentos. Esse conhecimento pode ser util tanto para essas escolas quanto para cursos de ingles e escolas nao-bilingues que se veem diante de escolas dispostas a entregar uma formacao mais completa e internacional, nao somente com o ensino do ingles, mas tambem com o ensino em ingles.
