Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationAlfred John Evans was a moderate cricketer who played for Oxford University, Hampshire, Kent and England. Perhaps his greater distinction was as a pilot with the Royal Flying Corps in the First World War. He was shot down and interned in Ingolstadt, a camp for persistent escapers and the First World War counterpart to Colditz. This inspired Evans to write The Escaping Club and Escape and Liberation, 1940-45, the latter dedicated to those brave POWs who evaded capture, including the infamous Colditz Castle.
