Die Frage, ob die kantische Tafel der Urteile vollständig und wenn ja, ob diese Vollständigkeit deduktiv beweisbar ist, bildet eine der zentralen Problemstellungen der Kantforschung. Alle Ansätze kommen jedoch darin überein, dass sie das Problem nicht vollumfänglich als systemisches, sondern vielmehr als beigeordnetes begriffen haben. Im Gegensatz zu den früheren Versuchen, diese Grundfrage des kantischen Systems zu beantworten, ist der vorliegende Band von der Grundüberzeugung getragen, dass eine Antwort nur im Rahmen einer grundständigen Interpretation der Kritik der reinen Vernunft gegeben werden kann, indem sie den transzendentalen Sinn der logischen Tafel aufdeckt. Damit umfasst sie weit mehr als die kantische Genesis der logischen Funktionen, sondern umgreift gleichzeitig alle wesentlichen Kernfragen der transzendentalen Philosophie Kants: Die metaphysische und transzendentale Deduktion der Kategorien und Ideen, das Verhältnis der Erkenntnisvermögen, die transzendentale Apperzeption wie auch den Grenzbegriff der Reflexion, das Ding an sich, und die mit ihm verbundene Affektionslehre Kants.
