Author Information

Dr. Matthew Stubbins is the Director of Undergraduate Law at Canterbury Christ Church University. Matthew has been at Christ Church for nearly 9 years and has held numerous positions during this period. He has also lectured at the University of East London, is a Fellow of Advance HE, and was also called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple. He has been nominated twice for Christ Church’s Golden Apple awards, which recognise teaching excellence within the institution.  During his time at Christ Church, alongside his teaching commitments, Matthew completed his Ph.D, which focused on the use of the resulting trust in instances of company liquidation. Prior to his Ph.D, he also completed his LL.B and LL.M at the University of Greenwich.  Matthew’s area of expertise focuses on a doctrinal analysis of property law, and in particular trust law. Matthew has built upon his Ph.D thesis and published on several facets of the resulting trust, including the factual matrices in which it will be imposed and the obligations owed by these trustees. Other publications have focused on the secret trust, statutory annexation of covenants, and the doctrine of mutual wills, among other topics. These publications have been in the leading property law journals including the Conveyancer and Property Lawyer, Trust Law International, and Trust and Trustees, among others.
