Confermando e aggiornando quanto sostenuto da Pedersen, Pisani e Orel per l'albanese e da Wagner e Pittau per il sardo, si formula l'ipotesi che th- sia sostanzialmente un elemento aggiuntivo su temi di origine indoeuropea. L'analisi è poi estesa ad alcuni lessemi del greco e del latino, sospetti di provenienza dal cosiddetto sostrato ""mediterraneo""."
