OverviewWe are in the year 1998. Nelly, a young police inspector, lives alone with her little son Mau after the death of her husband Roberto in the line of duty. Her professional life is very demanding. Among the many cases requiring her full attention, one becomes an obsession: the case of Isa Bonocore Giustiniani del Bosco. The woman, who had lived a reclusive life after an accident ended her university career, is found dead, naked, and disfigured in a corner of the old town. At the same time, an important literature festival is taking place in Genoa, featuring the famous writer Agenore Salvi. During the festival, Nelly meets ship captain Carlo Mossotti and falls in love with him. She searches for the truth about Isa's life and death not only in the Giustiniani del Bosco house, where Isa lived with her sister Carol, her fiancé Matteo and two elderly governesses, but also among her friends and in a rural village where the two governesses came from. Driven by Isa's restless spirit, which cannot find peace, Nelly persists until the full truth about Isa's death comes to light.
