David Peterson del Margrew up in a very rural area that was dominated by logging and fishing. He has worked as a labourer for a sawmill, in a fish-processing plant, and as a farmer. Over the past twelve years he has taught environmental history in Canadaand the United Statesand has published four books on social history, including the award winningWhat Trouble I Have Seen: A History of Violence against Wives (1996).
