Overview

ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR TANZANIAN VOCATIONAL TRAINEES Action Learning process is the mode adopted by the VETA Entrepreneurship Education and Training curriculum specialists participated in preparation of the Entrepreneurship manuals developed by the Vocational Educational and training Authority (EUVETA). However, many trainees and even teachers find it difficult to implement the games and case studies provided in the manuals. The reasons maybe due to many of us learnt through traditional system of education where a teacher is a master of all the knowledge and skills required by learners. We are always against any changes coming our way to rectify our traditional system, and as the result we fail to learn from anything new. After teaching the subject for a number of years, I reached at a point where I saw the importance of creating a bridging yoke between the traditional system of teaching the subject and these current Entrepreneurship manuals. And this is where the idea of coming up with this book came from. Entrepreneurship Education for Tanzanian Vocational Trainees is a book written mainly to be used as a supplement material to the EUVETA programmes. It is an additional tool for the needy trainees and teachers who find sloppy in the manuals and fail to extract content from them. Written in modular form, the book conforms to the current Entrepreneurship syllabus released in October 2013. The language used is so simple that it maybe easily understood by all our vocational trainees especially from remote centers where English is rarely spoken even though it is a medium of instruction in Vocational Education and Training. Some terms are defined more than once so as to bring more clarification for their easy understanding. Some elements have been broken into a number of lessons so as to make more emphasis on just small issues whose understanding are of more importance. Moreover, sample of CBA questions are given at the end of the book to help the learners test their understanding on materials discussed in the modules. It is thus my hope that the book will be of much help not only to vocational trainees but also to all other people in need of starting their own businesses. Entrepreneurship Education for Tanzanian Vocational Trainees is a book that aims to supplement the EUVETA programs by providing additional material for trainees and teachers who struggle to implement the games and case studies provided in the EUVETA manuals. The book is written in a modular form, following the current Entrepreneurship syllabus released in October 2013, and uses simple language so that it can be easily understood by vocational trainees, especially those in remote centers where English is rarely spoken. The book breaks down elements into smaller lessons to place more emphasis on important issues, and provides sample Competence Based Assessment (CBA) questions at the end of each module to help learners test their understanding of the materials. The author hopes that the book will not only benefit vocational trainees but also anyone else in need of starting their own businesses.
