Overview

The lands neighboring the Arabian Gulf consist of eight countries: Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The region provides some 40% of the world's crude oil in exports and the seaway acts as a gateway to accessing the world economy. Thus, Iran's push for hegemony in the Arabian Gulf is hardly new; It stems from geostrategic and geopolitical factors related to the region's importance in all regards, from security to economic and trade aspects. However, one can't help but wonder, is Iran ceaseless in its quest for dominance in Bahrain?
