Reviews

'An excellent text, written in an accessible and friendly manner, which is nonetheless authoritative and well-informed. Collins and Hollo succeed in making grammar comprehensible and relevant to contemporary English studies. With its additional material this second edition demonstrates even more convincingly how various styles of English, both spoken and written, impact on grammatical structures.' - Geoffrey Finch, formerly Anglia Polytechnic University, UK 'I know of no other textbook that shares Collins and Hollo's breadth of genres and depth of grammatical description. Students will find this edition even clearer and more engaging than the first, and instructors will delight in the connections made between English grammar and authentic modern discourse.' - Betty Phillips, Indiana State University Terre Haut, USA
