He has a B.S. degree from Tunghai University (Taiwan, China; 1966), a M.S degree from University of Massachusetts (1969), and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin (1975); all in Chemical Engineering. He participated in part time ESL teaching since 1995. After he retired in Jan. 2011, he spent more time in ESL teaching and writing teaching material.
