Overview

If you are an engineering student or a recent graduate, I am sure you have questions and uncertainties on starting your engineering career. This book will provide a perspective to what is on the minds of students and early career engineers and an insight to frequently asked questions. I have studied and learned many success strategies during my life and career. I have had the benefit of tremendous mentorship, career opportunities, a strong network and a focus on continual self-development. I have put my learning strategies into practice in my own life as I built my career. I want to share what I have uncovered and the lessons that have had a positive impact on my journey. The expectation would be that the reader would take the underlying principles and build upon them in their own way, capitalizing on their own strengths. I will focus on the importance of networking, effective communications, continual learning, and having a positive attitude. I will call upon the ability to demonstrate hard work, discipline, focus, and effort. This book will cover the benefits of setting career and personal goals with the determination to work toward them each and every day, despite inevitable obstacles and required sacrifices. Many are afraid to fail, especially early in their careers. I will discuss how to use this fear of failure as a motivator to assist in overall growth. Lastly, I will explore the need to build a solid foundation by surrounding ourselves with a world-class team as well as having a vision for the future. We build our team with trust, honesty, and respect. My intent is that this book will provide readers the motivation to continue to progress on their own individual journeys.
