He is the author of Language and Enlightenment: The Berlin Debates of the Eighteenth Century (2012) and co-editor of Epicurus in the Enlightenment (2009). Lifschitz has also edited a special issue of History of Political Thought on Rousseau and classical antiquity. Research fellowships have included the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin, the Lichtenberg-Kolleg at the University of Göttingen, and the Clark Library at the University of California, Los Angeles.
