Duclow studied English Literature and Philosophy at DePaul University and received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Bryn Mawr College in 1974. He is Professor Emeritus at Gwynedd Mercy University, where he taught Philosophy from 1974 to 2009. He has published widely on the medieval Christian Neoplatonic tradition, and his book Masters of Learned Ignorance: Eriugena, Eckhart, Cusanus (2006) includes 20 of his articles. He remains active in academic societies, especially the American Cusanus Society and the Renaissance Society of America. He and his wife Geraldine live in Philadelphia.
