Why do we have war on this planet? Why is it that in the 21st century, we still cannot sit down together like adults and arrive at practical solutions to whatever problems we may be faced with? Why do we have to reduce ourselves to the equivalent of fist fights every time we don't agree? Could it be because there are some among us who benefit from this state of affairs? Could it be because our world is run by people who lack empathy and love for their fellow human beings? Could it be because we are manipulated and programmed to believe that war is a natural state for human beings, one that can never be transcended? We have been taught to believe that the ideas that make the world go round are complex, complicated and best left to the experts. We have been taught to believe that we don't need to think about the deeper questions of life as we are not capable of understanding the very complex nature of these questions. We are taught to believe that we are not intelligent enough, knowledgeable enough, enlightened enough or savvy enough to have an opinion about how the world works. This is utter nonsense. The people who currently run our world are people just like you and me. There is nothing special about them that makes them more qualified than anyone else to decide how the world should run. We, that is you and I are just as capable as anyone else of analysing situations and coming to our own conclusions about what ought to be. Each one of us has a right to think about whatever topic we want to think about and question the status quo. This book delves deeper into the issues that cause us as a planet to still hold on to the primitive practice of war, a practice that we should surely have transcended by now.
