In September 2013, he was appointed Director General of the Department of Pollution Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP). In November 2015, he was appointed Chief Engineer of MEP. In March 2016, he was appointed Vice Minister and elected a member of the Leading Party Members Group of MEP. In March 2018, he was appointed Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE). Arthur Hanson is an Officer of the Order of Canada, and a Distinguished Fellow with IISD following his term as President and CEO from 1991-98.
