OverviewA graphic novel adventure showing that superheroes come in all shapes and sizes! Teenaged Lindsey loves helping out at her grandfather's wildlife sanctuary, assisting with his research and learning all about the animals. It's a peaceful life until evil villain Mace Zagan escapes from prison determined to destroy her grandfather and all of his research. Lindsey would do anything to help her grandfather and so would her sanctuary friends; a sloth, a marine iguana, and a tapir, all of whom are undergoing some very unusual transformations. Will their new abilities be enough to defeat Mace Zagan before he succeeds with his evil plan? In a departure from the typical dark superhero comics, this is a colorful adventure story focussing on friendship and respect for everyone's unique abilities that also acts as an introduction to endangered species and some of the world's environmental challenges. I knew it was going to be wonderful but I was completely mesmerized throughout. My favorite parts were the main character's connection with the animals via interspecies communication. That's a topic near and dear to my heart. I also loved the message it sent out to protect these endangered species before it's too late. The fact that you're never too young to create change and make a difference in the world you live in is a perfect message for these times. I would highly recommend this book to many children and adults I know. I think this book is brilliant! From Jo Sherwood, Animal Activist: I am so impressed by this book.
