She has a PhD in Physical Oceanography and has been involved as Chair of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, Gland, Switzerland from 2005-2012. As of 2005 she is Director of FHB Consulting Services in Lynden, USA.
