Author Information

Heather MacKay has much experience in the fields of environment, wetlands, water policy etc. She has been working in the field for over 20 years. She has a PhD in Physical Oceanography and has been involved as Chair of the Scientific and Technical Review Panel of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, Gland, Switzerland from 2005-2012. As of 2005 she is Director of FHB Consulting Services in Lynden, USA. Some of her recent projects include: * Technical guidance on integration of wetland conservation and management into river basin management, for the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. * International review of guidance for managing the impacts of mining and extractive industries on wetland ecosystems. * Assessment of the vulnerability of wetlands on international flyways to mining and extractive industries. * Feasibility study for an ecosystem services marketplace in Whatcom County, WA.
