Encounters with Life: Too Many Ah-ha Moments and Still Counting

Overview

Encounters with Life is a series of vignettes by me, Vince Corozine, that present a tongue-in-cheek and often humorous look at contemporary culture. With so little to make us smile or laugh, this book will lift your spirits and make your day! Encounters with Life includes observations about the outlandish behavior of people I've met, whether it be at the mall during my daily walk; my travel experiences around the world; time in the U.S. Army; my many years as a musician, music teacher, and bandleader; and my days obtaining an education. The book has no plot, rising action, conflict, or climax. Ah, but it has characters (including yours truly). Encounters with Life is a probing look at how times have changed in my more than 70 years on Earth and why people do such strange things...like walking clockwise around the mall. The planets in our solar system revolve around the sun counterclockwise, and the sun rotates in the same motion. Motors, car tires, hurricanes, and CDs rotate this way too. Why? The water in my bathtub revolves counterclockwise when draining. I want my life to be coordinated with the Earth and my bathtub. Don't you? But I digress. If you're looking for a little inspiration or motivation and a good laugh, then pick up a copy of Encounters with Life!

Reviews

In Encounters with Life author Vince Corozine takes you on his many journeys across town and across the world to uncover the interesting characters that we pass by every day as we work, shop, exercise, and travel. Vince is a keen observer of character who sees the irony and humor in ordinary interactions among people. If you love watching people you will love this book. Dr. William Brown Professor College Arts and Sciences, Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia. In 'Encounters with Life Vince's talents bring to life images of people and events that many of us might have tangentially viewed but never actually took the time to see. His wonderful, folksy, comedic writing style manages to combine George Carlin's understanding of life's elusive undercurrents, with the somewhat absurd paraprosdokian (a phrase or observation totally surprising and unexpected ending)humor of Stephen Wright. For example banging your head against the wall uses 150 calories an hour is just one of the many you'll find in this book. Richard Lavsky: composer, conductor, and producer of music and sound design for television, radio, and theatrical motion pictures. New York City.
