His research interests include translation and society, book history and censorship, and intercultural communication. He is Author of Jin Ping Mei English Translations: Texts, Paratexts, and Contexts (Routledge, 2018) and Co-Editor of A Century of Chinese Literature in Translation: 1919-2019 (Routledge, 2020). He is NAATI-certified Translator, National Education Committee member of AUSIT (Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators), and Editor of The Aalitra Review. He has published widely in internationally leading journals in translation studies, including Target, Translation and Interpreting Studies, and Perspectives. Dr. Shani Tobias is Lecturer of Translation Studies and Acting Director of the Interpreting and Translation Studies program at Monash University. Her current research interests lie in stylistic and cultural issues in literary translation, as well as T&I pedagogy and professional development.
