OverviewMy child asks for a diaper every time she needs to poop. My child never poops in the toilet; only in his pants. My child has to release some feces in his pants before going to the toilet. My child withholds his poo for days to the point where he can't eat or move. I am exhausted by the useless trials of offering rewards, giving stool softeners, giving reminders, comparing my child to others, and being furious. If any of those statements sound familiar, this is exactly the book for you.Dr. Baruch Kushnir presents here a description of his intervention model that has freed thousands of children from encopresis by pinpointing 3 different groups: Toilet anxiety Children who can only poop in a diaper or in their pants. Soiling: Children who can use the toilet for defecation but also release feces into their pants. Soiling and prolonged constipation Children who refrain from having a bowel movement for many days or even weeks. For each group, he provides a unique, practical, effective, step-by-step program for parents to carry-out. Dr. Baruch Kushnir explains to parents the pointlessness of their repetitive trials of offering rewards, giving stool softeners, giving reminders, becoming angry, comparing their child to others, reading books, etc.In his clinic and in this book, he makes a point of releasing parents and children from the vicious cycle of doing more and more of the same useless, distressing, and damaging actions. Instead, he presents creative, innovative, and effective interventions. Chapter 5 of the book is dedicated to sensitive toilet training and provides a list of Dos and Don'ts to avoid crucial parenting mistakes. Table of ContentsReviewsI chose to start with chapter 5 Sensitive toilet training i suggested to my daughter that she must read it carefully and she shar it with her friends who are all in various stages of potty training their kids. Among other creative tips he mentoins at the begining if he had to say it all in one sentence he would direct parents to make a point of avoiding any conflict with the child over potty issues . Very clear simple message that could save lots of agony to kids and to their parents. Orna Caspin This book landed on my kindle at the perfect time. There are several things I love about it. First, it gets straight to the point. The book outlines right upfront the 3 different categories of issues, which makes it easier to jump right to the chapter that discusses it. I have to commend the author for structuring it in such an easy way to consume. Thank you! Second, it is very practical. The many years of experience of someone who spent their entire career helping children with toilet anxiety translate into simple and easy tactics that I intend to put into practice first thing tomorrow with my 4yo. Third, it's great to know the psychology behind the condition and what goes in my child's head. I am excited to implement all I learned in the book. - and will report back. Stay tuned! Ana T I purchased the book to solve my son's problems. The part that explains the causes of encopresis is very useful, it fully reflects the symptoms and helps to understand the child's behavior. I have not yet started to put the proposed program into practice but I am very confident, by now I have finished preparing everything and I am determined to start. Alessandro Author Informationr.
