Author Information

Russian conceptual artist Andrei Monastyrski is a unique figure in contemporary art history. As co-founder, mastermind, parteigenosse and leader of Moscow conceptualism he created the theory and practice known as 'Collective Actions'. The Collective Actions group he founded in the 1970s was the first example of particapatory art in Russia, and began to challenge perceptions about the role of performance art in post-Communist Russian society.
