OverviewWomen make up over 85 per cent of the workforce in the health and nursing care sector. In nursing care in particular, the question arises as to whether it is possible for women to work until the age of 65. The mental and physical strain on women who work full-time in nursing is exacerbated by existing domestic structures, particularly for those aged 50 and above, and often leads to early retirement or long periods of sick leave. This master's thesis examines whether it is possible for women working in health and nursing care to continue working beyond the age of 60 and, if so, what conditions must be met in order for the statutory pension increase for women in health and nursing care to 65 to be implemented. From 2024 onwards, the retirement age for women in Austria will be gradually aligned with that of men. More detailed data and facts are presented and discussed in this thesis.
