Preamble If we think of preadolescents as concerned about breaking with childhood, then adolescents have their eyes on growing toward adulthood. Every society has very substantial proportion of adolescents, however it varies from culture to culture and in any culture from time to time. Exceptionally high percentage of adolescents is found in societies where the transition period between childhood and adulthood is prolonged considerably. Imbalance unpredictability and instability on the part of adolescence characterize the period of adolescence. Adolescence should not be confused with puberty, which is the period in pre and early adolescence when sexual maturity occurs. Family is one of the oldest and controversial institutions of the world. Family determines one's personality, attitudes and influences one's mental and moral standards and the standards of behavior. Emotion is a state of special readiness for emergency action.
