Overview

Emmie Returns is the intriguing memoir of two women who travel between Ireland and Canada in the process of coming into their own power. The story is based on a series of letters written in 1897 by the author's grandaunt Emmie. Liz Woodburn believes that she is Emmie's reincarnation and that she has returned to complete a task she could not accomplish within the confines of Victorian society. Born in 1948 on Emmie's birthday, Liz now questions outmoded power structures and so-called external authorities. Emmie Returns documents how she found faith in herself and restored a sense of inner goodness through connecting with her own 'Inner Authority'. Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, you will be fascinated by Emmie's detailed descriptions of life in 1897. Liz brings power to her voice through publishing Emmie's story in contemporary society, thus demonstrating that it is never too late to triumph over adversity.

Author Information

Born in 1948 in Montreal, Liz Woodburn joined the ranks of the Baby Boom Generation. Her formal education includes university studies in Comparative Religion and the Social Sciences. Liz has pursued a life long informal education through the study of psychology and human behavior, alternative health care, and various New Age studies. Liz is a regular practitioner of Tai Chi, Chi Gong, meditation and mindfulness. Over the years, Liz has worn the hats of Nurse, Mother, Genealogist and Martial Artist. She currently holds third degree Black Belts in Karate and Traditional Asian Weaponry. Combining a spirit of adventure with a lifetime of 'inner exploration', Liz has now reinvented herself as an author. Emmie Returns traces the development of Liz's belief in reincarnation through the celebration and validation of feminine energy and wisdom. As an expression of inner power and authority, Liz has chosen to self-publish both in print and e-Book versions, thereby demonstrating a passage from post war Baby Boomer to modern self-determined Zoomer.
