Overview

Judith Miller is a poet who has lived many lives and crossed many thresholds. A scholar devoted to the study of Spanish Language and Literature, she has traveled the world and lived for years in Mexico. Yet, despite her sophistication, she claims her home region in the Midwest as the primary inspiration shaping her life and poetry. She says it is the ""green"" of her beloved ""Driftless"" region in southeastern Minnesota that brings her back to her true self. ""It is in the 'woods' where I find answers to the 'whys and worries' I experience day to day,"" she says in the introduction to her collected poetry titled Emergings Out of the Woods. Her collection spans the entire spectrum of being human -- from loss and becoming, to a child's memories, and to her deep relationships with dogs who have been her friends.
