She was Artistic Director of Canberra Dance Theater (1978–2001) and was awarded the first Fellowship at the Australian Choreographic Center. She has published over 30 academic papers and articles and is the Series Editor for Routledge Celebrating Dance in Asia and the Pacific commissioning anthologies from Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Australia, Taiwan, Singapore and the South Pacific. Other book series are Routledge, Perspectives on Dance, Young People and Change that include Dance Education around the World (2015); Dance Access and Inclusion (2017) and Dance Crossing Borders (2020).
