OverviewIn 1981 Chip and Jan were married, each with two children, and moved into an old Victorian house. That's not the end of the story, it's the beginning. The house had been deteriorating for decades, and then caught fire. The house was mostly black char and missing ceilings. In spite of this, the family moved in, and went to work. This is a story of perseverance and common effort, even as the two families blended into one. The renovation did not go quickly; there were still all of the usual requirements of jobs and school. But a little at a time, the house became a home. And not just a home, but a showplace. Elysian Place a Family Renovation exhibits relevant design ideas, but it is also an inspiring story demonstrating what can be accomplished when a family works together. There is an additional section highlighting interesting projects that the couple's woodworking business took on.
