He has been teaching in the same institute since 1966, and had earlier taught for two years at regional engineering colleges. He has guided research students at the M Tech and Ph D levels. He received his M Sc (Engg) degree in electrical machine design form Madras University in 1963 and his P h D from IIT Madras in 1973. he has published several articles in international journals and has also presented papers at international conferences.
