He established Serenity Ridge Retreat Center in Nelson County, Virginia, and founded Ligmincha Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia, a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to preserve for future generations the ancient teachings, arts, sciences, language, and literature of Tibet and Zhang Zhunga.
