On December 31, 2010, 14 ships set out on the Barcelona World Race in order to cover the more than 25,000 miles in the only sailing trip around the world with two crew members each and no stops; told from an insider's perspective, this is the story of an adventure that underscores the importance of trusting a partner, remaining humble in the face of the awesome and fearsome powers of nature, and developing skills with which to face fear, exhaustion, discouragement, and uncertainty. The objective was to circumnavigate the world and return to Barcelona after crossing the most violent, inhospitable, and remote seas on the planet and surviving the harshest possible sea conditions. This is the story of the adventures lived by the sailors, a story of struggle and survival against all odds on boats equipped with the most advanced technology.
