OverviewThe ICETE Program for Academic Leadership (IPAL) was officially established in 2010 out of the need to provide training to theological institutions in various regions of the world. IPAL offers four-day seminars in a three-year cycle for the professional development of evangelical academic administrators, in order to assist institutions in their quest for quality and excellence. This publication is the second of three volumes whose purpose is to accompany and support IPAL seminars, in addition to providing, independently, a broader access to the principles that academic leaders need for curricular and institutional development. Each chapter shares the author's experience and illustrates their understanding of education and curriculum design in the field of evangelical academic institutions. This volume, which intentionally takes the wide variety of non-Western contexts for granted, is a vitally valuable guide for academic administrators around the world. Language: English Table of ContentsReviewsIn this book, Leadership in Theological Education: Foundations of Curriculum Design, authors from around the world, with proven expertise and experience in theological formation and educational principles, offer a relevant and timely resource. They clearly articulate biblical foundations and learning theories and practices for the design and implementation of an effective curriculum design that will contribute to both an enriching and transformative educational experience. I enthusiastically recommend this book to all faculties of professors and academic leaders who long to see, and are committed to achieving, transformative theological training in their institutions. Rev. Emmanuel Chemengich, DMin former Executive Director, Association for Christian Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA) This book is a tapestry full of diversity and substance, and is vital and critically important to the future of a creative and God-blessed theological education. This volume on curriculum design has been produced by a global team of talented and insightful educators. I have devoted much of my life to studying educational systems, their processes, resources, students, and leadership, and how they contribute to authentic character transformation and God-inspired ministerial excellence. I can only dream of the potential impact of this book series. My prayer is that our courageous educators, especially those in the highest leadership roles, will have the boldness to read, study, and implement the wisdom contained in this founding resource. William D. Taylor, PhD Former professor at the Central American Theological Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School Thirty years with the Mission Commission, World Evangelical Alliance This book offers a comprehensive perspective on the curriculum and guides academic leaders through the complex process of its development, implementation, and evaluation. Written by expert theological educators from around the world, it presents a roadmap for curriculum design in theological education. It will help theological institutions to develop relevant training programs that impact the church and society in their contexts. Theresa Roco-Lua, EdD General Secretary, Asian Theological Association I am writing this from Rome, Italy, where I am participating in the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education meeting together with colleagues from the nine accredited regional associations, as we are talking about developing the Academy of Excellence and ICETE's global accreditation standards. As I listen to my colleagues from the various regions, I am struck by how much and how significantly ICETE's Program for Academic Leadership has contributed to seminar leaders and professors, laying the foundation for curriculum design, defining the role of academic leadership in teaching and transformative learning, designing tools to assess learning and developing a learning community in the field of theological education. I have participated in all three IPAL seminars in Eurasia. In today's very complicated context, marked by the socio-political crisis between Ukraine and Russia in Eastern Europe, these seminars in particular have profoundly shaped my understanding of contextualized curriculum design, challenging me with questions around the development of a community of learning that enables us to remain faithful to the kingdom of God and better carry out the mission of the church.
