Earth teeters on the brink of collapse-evolution has favored greed. Dr. Warren Manheim, a professor of genetics, is thrust into a high-stakes ethical dilemma at a 2085 climate conference. Suddenly a key player in the Secretary General of the EU's shadowy initiative to rewrite humanity's genetic code, he's tasked with removing the genes responsible for human avarice-genes that have driven Earth to ruin. To keep Dr. Manheim away from the world's prying eyes, he's relocated to a lunar laboratory where he soon finds that his biggest concern isn't adapting to life on the moon, but raising his twelve-year-old daughter there. As Warren grapples with the morality of tampering with humanity's genetic code, Miu, a member of an alien species still unknown to humanity, struggles with greed's repercussions. Amid a resource-driven conflict with an interstellar predator, her last-ditch effort to understand and defeat the enemy leads her to Earth, home to a species whose attempt to strip their genome of selfishness may just be her key to salvation.
