OverviewFopius arisanus [Sonan, 1932] (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) is an egg-pupal parasitoid of fruit flies that has been used very successfully in Hawaii. Introduced to Brazil in November 2012 and, in April 2013, at Embrapa Semi�rido, it has been the subject of various research studies to adapt it to laboratory rearing under local conditions. The successful use of this species in biological control programs for fruit flies, Bactrocera dorsalis and Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Hawaii, makes its use in the control of B. carambolae in Amap� and C. capitata in the S�o Francisco Valley promising.
