OverviewAccording to the World Health Organization, trachomatous trichiasis (TT) is the leading preventable cause of infectious blindness worldwide. It is the final stage in the evolution of trachoma before blindness. Badly operated, trichiasis can recur and continue its evolution towards irreversible blindness, increasing the precariousness of families. Our study aimed to assess the quality of TT surgery and patient satisfaction in the Kayes region of Mali. This was a cross-sectional study conducted from June 22 to July 1ᵉʳ, 2018, among 125 people randomly selected from the 492 people operated on for trichiasis in 2017 in the Kita and Diema health districts, one year after surgery. An experienced ophthalmologist examined the eyes using a 2.5-diopter magnification magnifier and a lamp, to detect possible recurrences and complications recorded in a standard questionnaire. Eye care was provided where necessary, with the participant's informed consent.
