OverviewIn an attempt to reduce the environmental impact caused by synthetic products, the insecticidal potential of green Monkey Pepper fruits fractionated in solvents of increasing polarity was studied. These were: hexane, ethyl ether and 70% ethanol. The extracts were prepared from the extraction of the dehydrated fruit in each solvent. Of these, five doses (10 mg, 20 mg, 50 mg, 150 mg, and 250 mg) were added to 100 g of artificial Bowling diet and offered to corn earworm larvae. The experimental design used was completely randomised, and the treatments were analysed using the Kruskal-Wallis test. The control was the Bowling diet without extract. Each treatment consisted of a dose of seed or pulp extract, with five replicates, four plots each. The results confirmed the insecticidal power of the plant studied.
