EEEK! A People by Alison Mallin is a sweet and funny story about a snake named Sarah who loves resting on her favorite rock in the garden. The rock keeps her warm in the sun and gives her a safe hiding place underneath when she feels scared. One beautiful morning. Sarah is enjoying the sunshine when she feels loud thumps and bumps nearby. She looks up and sees what she believes is a terrible monster with blue legs. a red body and big teeth staring at her! Frightened Sarah quickly slips under her rock to hide. But the monster is really just a little girl wearing blue jeans and a red sweater with pigtails. The girl runs away yelling. ""EEEK! A snake!"" This beautiful story shows how fear can come from not understanding one another and reminds readers that sometimes what seems scary isn't scary at all.
